Who's a Numerologist?

Are you fascinated by numbers? Have you always believed there was more to numbers than what meets the eye? Would you like to learn how to interpret numbers to help people live better lives? If yes, consider a career in Numerology!

Numerology aims to understand the relationship between numbers and the events that take place in life. It is heavily based on mathematics and culture. There are three main branches of numerology – Western, Indian, and East Asian, which have been further divided. You would usually follow the principles of any one concept. However, you can develop a deeper understanding of how each concept works to widen your knowledge and provide accurate predictions and recommendations.

What will you do?

Finding meaning in numbers.

As a numerologist, you will pick out various elements and break them into numbers to derive significance. Doing this will help you gain complete insight about the personality traits of the individual.

Example: You can offer solutions to individuals on the basis of their birth date, life path number, name, surname, etc.

Offering numerological assistance.

You must study the numbers of an individual and suggest suitable changes so they can lead a happy life.

Example: If you think an individual’s bank account number is not compatible with their birthdate, you would suggest that they change their bank account number to one more suitable.

Giving insights into the future.

You can predict the future of a person on the basis of numbers in their life. This will help you warn them about any wrong choices they could make or a more profitable one.

Example: On the basis of the birthdate of an individual, you can predict lucky days for them to plan events that celebrate success or new phases in their life.

Naming businesses and babies.

People would also require your assistance in naming their business and newborn babies. On the basis of the birth time and birth date of the baby, you can name them and similarly considering the birth date of the person starting the business, nature of the business, you can suggest a name for it.

Example: The famous Devgan (Now Devgn) family of Bollywood dropped the ‘a’ from their name before the release of their home production house on recommendation from their numerologist.

Determining personality traits and life choices.

You can determine the personality traits of an individual and accordingly suggest the best courses of action for their life choices.

Example: You could help people make the right educational and career choices based on their life numbers.

Amateur Numerologist

To start with a career in numerology, you must read as much as you can on the subject in order to build your knowledge. Consider a fellowship with a professional who specialises in numerology and learns the principles of this ancient science from them. Most numerological readings at this stage take place in a face-to-face environment.

Experienced Numerologist

Once you are familiar with the basic principles of numerology and how to conduct numerological readings, you are ready to start your own practice. You can also continue working with an established professional, conducting seminars for their clients and addressing large groups. By this stage, you will have built the confidence and interpretive skills to handle your own clients.

Freelance Numerologist

Numerology is a flexible career option. Once you have established yourself as an expert in the market, you can conduct seminars and arrange for stints with a newspaper, magazine, or TV channel by providing editorial content on the subject.

Pursuing your career locally VS abroad

Numerology involves heavy amounts of research to expand your knowledge base. While this field does not require a specific qualification, most numerologists who wish to practice this subject professionally prefer to gain certified credentials to enhance their portfolios. For this, they usually prefer to opt for online courses that provide insight on the subject as well as a certification by the end of the course. There aren’t many options to study this subject in a traditional classroom but some might choose to pursue Bachelor of Arts in Astrology or acquire a Diploma on the subject. The latter option is more affordable with fees ranging from INR 4,000 to 12,000 across universities like the Institute of Vedic Astrology in Indore, National School of Astrology in New Delhi, and Shree Maharshi College of Vedic Astrology in Udaipur. One can also acquire a bachelor’s degree specifically in numerology at the IEC University in Himachal Pradesh, where the course costs about INR 36,000. Online courses, on the other hand, are more affordable and Udemy has several options to gain more knowledge in this vast subject.

Numerological science is not just limited to Indian borders. Many international companies like Coca Cola, Nokia, and more consult numerologists for solutions to business-related problems. Some organisations have also begun to employ an in-house team of numerologists who are trained with the company in order to understand their processes. However, in order to pursue a career in numerology abroad, one must be trained and certified from relevant institutes or have a master’s degree in numerology. Some colleges worldwide have courses in numerology that provide their students with certifications that are needed in order to conduct numerological readings or seminars. The fees for these courses range around INR 10,000-15,000 at a university while online courses can be completed within INR 5000 – INR 7000. You can take online courses from Numerology University, Centre of Excellence, etc.

How much would you get paid?

The exact number will depend on how well you're recognised and your knowledge in numerology. But, we can give you an idea of what you could make as a numerologist.

What are your career options?

Indian Vedic Numerology

Indian Vedic numerology is one of the most popular branches in the field of numerology. It originated in the state of Tamil Nadu. According to this principle, there are three important numbers in every person’s life – the name number, the psychic number, and the destiny number. Name numbers determine the individual’s relationships with other people in their lives, while psychic numbers represent how they see themselves with respect to the world, and destiny numbers, on the other hand, define how the world sees them. In this field, you would use Vedic squares, geometric patterns, symmetries, and sound frequencies in birth dates and other numbers to derive conclusions.

Chinese Numerology

One of the most popular numerological principles and second only to Indian numerology is the Chinese system. This ancient science is over 4000 years old and it is rumoured to have originated when Chinese Emperor Wu came across a tortoise with a grid of nine squares on its back. Chinese numerology is, thus, based on this grid system called the Lo Shu grid. In this discipline, you will use this grid that includes an individual’s birth date and add other numbers in the grid in a way that the numbers – horizontally, vertically and diagonally – add up to the number 15. Each of these numbers will represent an individual personality trait.

Kabbalah Numerology

This branch of numerology evolved from Judaism. It is associated with the energy that is the source of all life and power on earth. As a Kabbalah numerologist, you would focus on names rather than birth dates as this study believes that names have the energy that drives an individual. Your readings would be focused on the birth name of the individual, where you would convert the letters into numbers. You would then use these numbers to analyse the individual’s future in the personal and professional world as well as the other situations that impact their life.

Chaldean Numerology

One of the oldest branches of numerology, the Chaldean system originated in the ancient Babylonian civilisation. It is also one of the most commonly used systems of numerology where all the numbers are reduced to a single digit that represents an individual’s outer personality, whereas double digit numbers provide analyses on the inner personality. While the Chaldean system of interpretation is similar to Kabbalah numerology, in this branch, you would use the individual’s commonly used name rather than the name given at birth. Chaldean numerologists oversee the number 9 in their readings as it is considered a holy number.

Pythagorean Numerology

Western numerology is more commonly known as Pythagorean numerology as it is derived from the teachings of the Greek mathematician and scholar, Pythagoras. It is one of the more popular branches of numerology and most beginners usually start with this system before delving into the complex methods mentioned above. Here, you would add up the numerological values of the letters in an individual’s name and birth date and reduce the final number to a single digit to determine various aspects of their lives. Master numbers – 11, 22, and 33 – are not reduced. You would determine details about the individual’s potential and help them make the most of their traits in order to accomplish their goals.
