Homeopathic Doctor

Who Is A Homeopathic Doctor?

A homeopathic doctor is a kind of doctor who uses natural medicine to treat diseases. The principal belief of this treatment is: what a substance is capable of causing, it is also capable of curing.

For example, a homeopathic doctor might use a natural substance like garlic to treat their patients. In large quantities, garlic can harm the body, but when used in small quantities through the principles of homeopathy, it can treat an illness.

Homeopathic Doctor

Roles & Responsibilities

#1

Carrying out initial consultations with patients to get their detailed case history. This would involve asking them in-depth questions about their health problems, lifestyle, medical problems, diet and personality.

#2

Prescribing homeopathic remedies to treat a range of medical conditions. From acute diseases like a cold or a sore throat to chronic diseases like arthritis and asthma and even those related to mental health, like phobias and depression, you would diagnose the problem, get to the root of it, and figure out the best natural remedy.

#3

Monitoring the recovery process of patients. Unlike allopathy, homeopathy doesn’t offer instant cures. Instead, it dives into the root cause of the problem and looks at a more thorough form of treatment that takes a few month. You must regularly follow-up with the patients through calls and appointments. Accordingly, you can then make changes in their treatment and recommend lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise and medications to support your treatment method.

#4

Managing both administrative and marketing duties. Most homeopathic doctors are self-employed. You would have to look into administrative tasks such as maintaining detailed records of patients, updating your website or keeping a track of your business account.

#5

Running seminars and presentations for groups, communities and health practitioners to promote homeopathy. Homeopathy is an alternative (not mainstream) form of medicine. It is important to educate fellow practitioners as well as gain insights from them about newer, innovative methods of treatment.

What Skills Will I Need To Have To Do This Job Well?

As exciting as this sounds, there are some things you’ll need to learn to do the job right:

SCIENTIFIC BENT OF MIND

Like any other doctor, you must have a thorough knowledge of the human anatomy and physiology, and the various problems it might face. You must also be able to absorb all the principles of homeopathic philosophy and its unique methodologies. This will help you understand the complexity of a patient’s case. The treatment that you administer doesn’t just solve the surface problem; it fixes the root of the issue to ensure that such a problem doesn’t recur. A scientific bent of mind will help you probe and understand this underlying problem.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

You must be able to ask your patients the right questions regarding their lifestyle and medical history, as well as closely listen to their answers. Good communication skills are crucial for you to understand the root cause of the problem and prescribe the right remedy.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Despite scientific advancement, the solution to every medical problem is not always readily available. You need to be able to solve such problems by deciding on alternative courses of treatment. This will help you save lives and maintain people’s faith in homeopathy.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

You must know how to operate accounting software, information retrieval, search software, label-making software, medical software and spreadsheet software. As most homeopathic doctors are self-employed, these skills will help you run the financial and administrative part of your business as well.

What Will My Workplace Look Like?

Homeopathic doctors usually work in a holistic medical centre (one that provides treatments using various branches of medicine) or in their own clinic. Your work space or office will be similar to that of general physicians. You will meet and interact with patients in exam rooms, and perform procedures either in the same room or in separate rooms within the clinic. Any research that you conduct can also be done in the same office. You must focus on keeping the environment free of distractions or stress, as wanting to become more stress-free is one of the main reasons why people turn to homeopathy. You will have regular working hours and rare cases of emergencies. You might be required to travel, like attending local or national seminars and conferences on homeopathy.
