What Is The Qualifying Score For NEET?

Pass-out marks or qualifying marks are often misunderstood to be the same thing. However, it’s important to note that qualifying marks and cut-off scores are not interchangeable. The qualifying marks are the minimum marks you need to be eligible for the NEET counselling process. On the other hand, cut-off scores determine the minimum marks needed to secure admission to a particular college or course.

There is a common misconception that qualifying marks are 50% of the NEET score, which is not true. In reality, qualifying marks represent the 50th percentile of the total marks. This means that if you achieve these marks, you are among the top 50% of candidates who appeared for the NEET exam and are eligible for the counselling session. It’s important to understand that these qualifying marks can vary from year to year.

Based on the previous year’s data, we can estimate that for NEET 2024, the qualifying marks for the general category will range from 138 to 720, while for reserved category candidates, it will range from 138 to 108. These figures may change, so it’s always advisable to stay updated with the latest information.

How Long Is The Neet Score Valid?

The NEET score remains valid for the academic year in which the exam is held. To be eligible for admission in the following academic years, candidates must take the NEET exam annually.
